EFRA Committee Survey: Have you had problems applying for SFI?
2nd Oct 2026 / By Tom Haynes
The NPA is highlighting the below survey at the request of the cross party Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Select Committee.
The EFRA Committee, who are responsible for scrutinising Defra, want to hear from farmers in England about their experience with the SFI application. The committee are seeking the experiences both of those who were successful and unsuccessful in submitting an application before the window closed.
This survey is intended to be quick to complete, but the committee’s inquiry on the future of farming is accepting evidence if you want to give additional information.
The Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) opened for applications on Tuesday 22 September 2026. Defra explained that the window for applications would be open until the whole £233m budget had been allocated. This occurred less than six hours after the window opened.
You can find out more about the work the committee are doing doing on their website.
This survey will close on Friday 16 October 2026 at 11:59pm.
