Lee Thompson

YNPA Chair

Lee Thompson

Lee fell into the pig industry by mistake nearly 13 years ago and hasn’t looked back since. He has worked on indoor and outdoor production, including a year in Australia on an outdoor sow production site. Lee now works for Quality Equipment as sales representative, travelling the length of the country speaking to pig producers on a daily basis. Outside of the pig industry, Lee enjoys spending time playing golf and rugby, as well as practising his fluency in languages at every opportunity.

“The pig industry is a really exciting place to be part of, and is an industry that really does give back. The future of the industry is in the youngsters coming through, and with the YNPA we want to develop and grow those talents”.

Emma Wormington

YNPA Chair

Emma Wormington

Emma grew up on a busy arable and livestock farm in Worcestershire and after completing a degree in Bio veterinary Science, she was able to combine her love for production animals and veterinary science with a career in Animal Health. Emma has worked in the Veterinary Pharmaceutical Industry for over ten years. Alongside her role as Pig Key Account Manager at Zoetis, Emma enjoys regularly spending time on her family’s pig unit, (where her twin brothers have nicknamed her ‘The Pig Whisperer’!). Outside of work and the family farm you will either find Emma in the yoga studio or enjoying her other love in life, pasta!

Emma personally shares," It has been an honor to take on the role of YNPA Vice Chair. Having family in pig farming and through experiencing the challenges the industry has faced over the last couple of years, I am truly passionate about making the pig industry a sustainable, profitable, and exciting place to be for the future."

YNPA holds events throughout the year for members to network, learn and socialise. Events include:

  • Regional meetings; a chance to hear from speakers from different parts of the industry, get updates on how the sector is developing, and discuss current issues with other YNPA members.
  • Summer event; the chance to go and visit different rural, food and farming enterprises not necessarily linked to the pig industry to see how different areas of agriculture and business operate.
  • National Event: held at the end of the year with a conference open to all members to learn about different key topics, hear from speakers from within and from outside the industry followed by an overnight stay and dinner.

YNPA aims to improve communication and networking opportunities for the next generation of the British pig industry.
